 Bökő Winery

Our ties to wine growing originate with our father, János, who has been spending most of his time in local vineyards since the 1980s. A few decades later, in 2015, we introduced wines of the first vintages to the market after some years of experimenting.

We are reflecting to challenges all the time, but have definitely realized we want to work in the vineyard as well as in the cellar as natural as possible. It is simple, we also drink these wines.

Our vineyards are located in Tihany (6 ha.), Balatonfüred (4 ha.) and Csopak (1 ha.).

We have 10 hectares of own land mostly planted with old vine plants and with young plantation in some areas.

Welshriesling and Blaufränkisch are in the focus of our offer, with some small stocks of Muscat Blanc and Zweigelt.

Our Wines

Always proceed from the grapes. After harvest, the best and purest raw material is in the cellar, because we believe most of the work is done on the vine-plant and only very basic bits and pieces are added in the cellar.
Cleanly, carefully, humbly.

Now comes Tihany a Balaton Partján 2019, a spontaneously-fermented, unfiltered and unfined red wine bottled with low sulfur that both captures the vibrancy of the Kékfrankos and Zweigelt grape varieties (from 30-year-old vineyard next to Sajkod Bay, the same place as the rosé), along with a touch of volcanic basalt X-factor. It is great value at HUF 2,950 from Bortársaság.

Olaszrizling Balatonfüred
A fruity wine with pear and ripe cantaloupe melon. Sweet fruit also in taste with a sprinkle of flowers. But dry wine and has a nice acidity. The wine sits well. It is balanced and has a nice length.

Kékfrankos 2018
Here is a blissful mix of aromas: grilled vegetables, spruce shoots and potato mists, as well as red berries. In taste, the fruit is more prominent. Juicy and light tannins. A wine with personality.

Olaszrizling Balatonfüred
For someone who had their first wine experiences with Balaton Riesling at home with mom and dad, it is exciting to see the changes towards dry, fresh versions, like this one. Olaszrizling is the grape. Slightly spicy, fresh, taste of grape and peach, with hints of fresh apples, herbs and spices. But why is this a party wine?

Kékfrankos 2018
Spicy style, low alcohol percentage (11%), rustic (spontaneous yeast), a little natural wine character. Taste of red berries, green herbs, pine needles and barrels.

Olaszrizling Balatonfüred
Hungary, Balaton. 100% olaszrizling. Scent of mushrooms, flowers and pear, tropical fruit. Better on the palate, nice fruit with a little more depth than the previous wine. Taste of grapefruit, citrus and this little mushroom scent from the scent. Good fruit in the aftertaste.

Kékfrankos 2018
9 months on tap. Here it smells a lot of pine needles. Green soap and pickled cherries. Juicy fruit with fine acidity, medium concentration, taste of cherries and resin. pine needle here too. A little unsure if this is particularly good.

Kékfrankos 2018
Floral scent with raspberries and herbs. Soft and fresh delicate fruit on the palate with a fresh acidity and long refined tannins.
